The Vineyards
The vineyards of our members stretch across the Conca de Barberà, reflecting the richness and diversity of the region.
Each grape variety contributes its own character.
The grape varieties we use reflect a balance between tradition and adaptation to our environment, shaping wines and cavas with a unique identity.
MACABEO
MACABEO
White variety with large clusters and medium-sized, thin-skinned berries, with a mid-season ripening period. We obtain fine, fruity wines with low acidity and moderate alcohol content. It is one of the two varieties used in the blend for producing our white cavas.
TEMPRANILLO
TEMPRANILLO
Red variety with large, compact and elongated clusters, and large berries with thick skins. We obtain balanced red wines with low acidity, light color intensity and high alcohol content.
TREPAT
TREPAT
A native variety from our region, the Conca de Barberà, of which we are one of the main producers and winemakers. It is a red variety with a long growing cycle, vigorous and upright in growth, with large clusters and medium-to-large, thin-skinned berries, and mid-to-late ripening. It is sensitive to re-sprouting. We obtain fine, fruity, light wines with moderate alcohol content. Trepat is used to produce all Portell rosé wines and cavas. We also produce high-end red wines that require careful selection of low-yield vineyards and high-quality grapes in the field.
PARELLADA
PARELLADA
A very vigorous white variety with a drooping growth habit, large clusters and thick-skinned berries. We obtain fine, fruity and aromatic wines with little body and low alcohol content. It is one of the two varieties used in the blend for producing our white cavas.
MERLOT
MERLOT
A red variety with a short-to-medium growing cycle, small clusters and small-to-medium, thin-skinned berries. We obtain balanced red wines with intense aromas, medium acidity, very deep color and very high alcohol content.
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
A red variety with a long growing cycle, small clusters and small, thick-skinned berries. We obtain balanced red wines with intense aromas, medium acidity, very deep color and very high alcohol content.
